Description for MITS EU Legal Guarantee & GARAN Pro for modified eCommerce shop software
MITS EU Legal Guarantee & GARAN Pro for modified eCommerce shop software
MITS EU Legal Guarantee & GARAN Pro adds a comprehensive solution to modified eCommerce shop software for integrating the harmonised EU legal guarantee notice, the GARAN label, manufacturers' commercial guarantee statements and supplementary information on repairs, repairability and software updates.
The module helps shop operators present product-related compliance information in a structured way within the shop, correctly represent products with attributes and different model identifiers, maintain larger catalogues efficiently and permanently archive relevant data and documents against individual orders.
Instead of individual manual adjustments, the module combines product and manufacturer maintenance, attribute and variant management, bulk processing, CSV import, official EU assets, frontend output, order archiving, email attachments and technical diagnostics in one central extension for modified eCommerce shop software.
Manage the EU legal guarantee notice and GARAN centrally
The module provides the technical functions needed to integrate the harmonised EU information directly into the shop. Official assets are managed centrally and can be used for all supported shop languages.
- Integration of the official EU legal guarantee notice
- Support for the harmonised GARAN label
- Management of official EU assets for 24 official EU languages
- Full and compact GARAN formats for different uses
- Central management through the integrated Compliance Center
- Diagnostic functions for checking installed assets and system requirements
Dedicated information page for the EU legal guarantee notice
In addition to contextual display, the EU legal guarantee notice can be provided on a dedicated information page in the shop. The module can create a suitable content manager page, which can then be linked from the footer, service navigation or other information areas, for example.
This makes the legal guarantee information available beyond the ordering process, so it can be accessed permanently and independently of the current shopping basket.
Link GARAN directly to products
GARAN-related data is linked directly to the relevant product. This allows the module to display the required information automatically in the designated places in the shop and subsequently associate it unambiguously with the order.
For each product, you can store details required for GARAN, including the guarantee duration, brand or manufacturer and model identifier. An existing manufacturer's commercial guarantee statement in PDF format can also be assigned.
Depending on the shop configuration, the model identifier can be determined from existing product numbers, EANs, attribute data or an explicitly stored model identifier, for example.
Maintain manufacturer data centrally and apply it to products
Much compliance information is not specific to a single item but applies to several products from a manufacturer. Suitable details can therefore also be maintained centrally at manufacturer level and used for associated products.
Products can inherit these defaults or override them with their own values when required. This allows recurring details to be managed centrally without having to enter identical information again for every product.
Depending on the functional area concerned, this inheritance logic is also available for GARAN, repair and software update information.
Comprehensive support for products with attributes and variants
A key advantage of MITS EU Legal Guarantee & GARAN Pro is its support for products with attributes and different model variants, tailored specifically to modified. GARAN is not generated solely from the base product; it can also take into account the attribute combination actually selected by the customer.
This allows products to be represented correctly where, for example, different sizes, versions or variants each have their own manufacturer's model identifier:
- Automatic evaluation of existing attribute product numbers
- Support for attributes_model and attributes_ean
- Existing modified product number logic can be used
- Model identifiers from a specifically selected attribute group can be used
- Several attribute product numbers can be combined
- Base product numbers and attribute product numbers can be combined
- Explicit model identifier overrides for individual attribute combinations
This removes the need to maintain existing product numbers manually again for every variant. For each product, you can define how existing product numbers should be resolved into the GARAN model identifier. The variant overview immediately shows which model identifier is actually used for each combination.
GARAN updates when attributes are selected
If the customer changes a relevant attribute on the product page, GARAN can automatically respond to the selected variant. For example, switching between different device sizes can immediately select the corresponding model identifier.
The shopping basket, checkout and order processing also work with the specific attribute combination selected. Permanent order documentation is therefore based on the variant actually ordered, rather than just the base product.
Ambiguous combinations are deliberately not guessed automatically. If several different attribute product numbers cannot be interpreted unambiguously as a model identifier, a clear assignment can be made through variant management.
Manage variants individually only when necessary
When attribute product numbers are maintained correctly, model resolution works entirely automatically in many cases. Individual combinations only need additional maintenance for exceptional cases.
Variant management is accessible directly from product editing in the “MITS EU Legal Guarantee & GARAN” section. If required, individual combinations can have different details stored for their model identifier, guarantee duration or guarantee statement, among other settings.
This keeps maintenance work to a minimum, even for products with extensive attributes.
Full and space-saving GARAN labels
The module supports different GARAN displays for different areas of the shop. In addition to the full display, a compact GARAN format is available where the layout offers less space.
The output is generated automatically from the stored product, manufacturer and variant data. The brand, model identifier and guarantee duration are inserted into the designated GARAN graphic without requiring manual maintenance of the label in product descriptions or templates.
Model resolution also supports longer model identifiers and existing EANs and product numbers, provided they fit within the designated GARAN area.
Manage repair and repairability information
Alongside legal and commercial guarantees, the module can also manage product-related repair, maintenance and repairability information.
Suitable information can be stored at manufacturer or product level and passed on to the relevant products according to the configuration. Local documents can be managed as supplementary materials and their integrity can be checked technically.
- Maintenance of repair and repairability information
- Manufacturer defaults with product-specific exceptions
- Integration of existing repair or maintenance documents
- Integrity checks for local documents
- Display in the product area, as expandable information or in suitable template sections
This function can be enabled or disabled independently of GARAN. Shops can therefore use precisely the compliance areas required for their own product range.
Software update information for suitable products
For products with digital elements, software update information can also be managed and displayed in the shop.
This area also uses the module's shared product and manufacturer logic. Recurring details can therefore be maintained centrally, with different values stored for individual products as needed.
The software update function is optional and can be disabled completely in the system module if it is not needed for the product range.
Powerful bulk processing for large catalogues
Compliance information needs to be maintained efficiently, especially in shops with many products. The integrated Compliance Center therefore provides advanced bulk processing without having to open each item individually.
Products can be filtered by categories and subcategories, manufacturer, product status, price range, stock levels, and existing or missing compliance details, among other criteria.
Bulk actions can then be applied to product selections such as:
- Manually selected products
- All current filter results
- All active products
- Products without their own assignment
- Products not yet configured
A preview shows which records will be affected before processing begins. Recurring changes can be saved as profiles. The filter conditions used can also be saved with the profile if desired.
In the product list, product thumbnails, filters and status information make assignment easier. Large numbers of products are processed on the server, avoiding the need to select thousands of products using individual checkboxes in the browser first.
CSV import for existing product data
A CSV import is available for extensive catalogues or data from inventory management systems. GARAN-related product data can thus be prepared in bulk and then imported into the module.
A sample CSV available directly in the module makes getting started easier and demonstrates the supported structure. The template is designed to work well with UTF-8 and Excel and can be used as the starting point for your own import files.
Control consumer-facing output precisely
Not all information is equally relevant to every customer group. Consumer-facing output can therefore be provided specifically for suitable customer groups according to the shop configuration.
For example, exclusively B2B customer groups can be excluded from the corresponding frontend notices without removing the underlying product data.
Distinguish goods from download-only products
The module takes into account whether a product or a specifically selected attribute combination is actually a physical good or a download-only item.
Information relating to goods, such as GARAN or corresponding repair information, is therefore not displayed unnecessarily for download-only products. For products with attributes, the combination actually selected can also be taken into account.
Lasting provision with the order confirmation
MITS EU Legal Guarantee & GARAN Pro places particular emphasis on documentation at the time of ordering. Relevant information is not merely read from product data that may subsequently change, but is saved as a separate order snapshot.
For products with attributes, the specific variant ordered is also taken into account. This makes it possible to trace which model identifier and guarantee data were used for the combination actually purchased.
Different document types can be provided automatically for new orders:
- EU legal guarantee notice as a PDF in the respective order language
- GARAN snapshot as a PNG for order items and variants to which GARAN applies
- Manufacturer's commercial guarantee statement as a PDF, if stored for the product or variant and designated for sending
- Order-specific repair information and associated documents, where enabled and relevant
- Order-specific software update information, where enabled and relevant
The data and files can be provided with the order confirmation or saved in the order archive, making them available independently of subsequent changes to the product, attributes or shop assets currently in use.
Order snapshots for a traceable history
Product data, variants, guarantee data, compliance information and the documents used may change over time. The module therefore archives the information relevant to an order separately.
This makes it possible to trace which data and files were used at the time of a particular order. The snapshot architecture prevents a later view of an older order from simply using product, manufacturer or variant data that has since changed.
- Historical record for each order
- Documentation of the attribute combination actually ordered
- Integrity information for stored files
- Separate archiving of order-specific assets
- Protection against unintended use of product data changed subsequently
Orders edited or added manually in the administration area can also be included in the designated snapshot and verification process.
Official EU legal guarantee notice as a PDF
The general EU legal guarantee notice does not have to be generated anew for each order. The module manages the official PDF files centrally and uses the version matching the respective language for the order.
When the order is completed, the PDF used is included in the order snapshot. Even if the EU assets are subsequently updated, there is therefore a record of which version was provided for that order.
GARAN snapshot as a lossless PNG file
For product-specific GARAN, the module creates a separate PNG snapshot when needed. The PNG format is particularly suitable for lasting reproduction of text, lines, colours and QR code content and avoids common problems displaying SVG files in email clients.
For products with attributes, the snapshot is generated from the data for the combination actually ordered. The GARAN file is then assigned to the order archive.
Support for 24 official EU languages
The integrated asset importer supports versions in the 24 official EU languages. Official PDF files are assigned through several stages, taking into account existing PDF language metadata as well as file names and language names.
This also makes the module suitable for multilingual modified shops with an international customer base.
Integrate manufacturers' commercial guarantee statements directly
In addition to GARAN and the EU legal guarantee notice, existing manufacturers' commercial guarantee statements as PDFs can be integrated into the process.
If a corresponding PDF is stored for an ordered product or a different attribute combination and provision through the module is enabled, it can be added automatically to the order snapshot and sent with the order email.
Local documents can also be supplied with integrity information so that subsequent changes to a stored file can be detected.
Production readiness and technical checks
Important module requirements can be checked centrally before use in production. The Compliance Center checks required assets, documents, template integrations and other technical requirements, among other things.
Instead of silently ignoring unmet requirements, the module clearly displays detectable problems and incomplete configurations. Shop operators can therefore check which areas are fully configured and where action is still needed before going live.
Auditing and traceable changes
Additional logging and audit functions are available for important GARAN and compliance operations. These allow relevant changes and processing steps to be traced without relying solely on a product's current state.
This makes technical monitoring and troubleshooting easier, especially for larger catalogues and recurring bulk changes.
Compliance Center with import, bulk maintenance and diagnostics
The most important functions are managed centrally through the integrated Compliance Center. It allows you to install the required official assets, check product, manufacturer and variant data, edit larger product catalogues, import CSV data and check technical requirements, among other tasks.
- Import of official EU assets
- CSV import with sample template
- Advanced bulk processing with filter and profile functions
- Manufacturer defaults and inheritance
- Management of attribute combinations and model identifiers
- Management of repair and repairability information
- Management of software update information
- Checking available language versions
- System, asset and production readiness diagnostics
- Checking GARAN PNG generation
- Checking installed PDF documents
Enable optional functions only when needed
Not every shop needs all the additional product information. The module's extended areas can therefore be enabled or disabled selectively according to the shop's functionality.
GARAN, repair information and software update information are treated as separate compliance areas. Unneeded functions do not have to be used unnecessarily in administration, the frontend or order processing.
Existing data is retained when a function is temporarily disabled and becomes available again after it is re-enabled.
Developed for modified eCommerce shop software
MITS EU Legal Guarantee & GARAN Pro was developed specifically for the structures of modified eCommerce shop software. The integration covers product management, manufacturers, attributes, the shopping basket, checkout, order processing, email delivery and order history, avoiding direct changes to core files wherever possible.
The module includes prepared integrations for tpl_modified_nova, tpl_modified_responsive, tpl_modified, xtc5, mits_responsive_modern, bootstrap5 and bootstrap5a, among others.
The required template integration is detected automatically and can be installed and checked through the Compliance Center. Manual adjustments to supported templates are therefore generally unnecessary.
Also suitable for custom and adapted templates
The module is not limited to the supplied template profiles. For custom or previously adapted templates, existing manual integrations can be detected and checked through the Compliance Center.
Unknown templates are not considered faulty merely because they do not match a particular standard template. This also allows the module to be used in more extensively customised modified shops.
Designed for existing modified installations
During installation and updates, the module takes existing shop structures and database settings into account. New module tables follow the character set and collation of the existing shop database instead of requiring a different database configuration.
Migrations and updates are designed to retain existing module data and bring existing installations up to date step by step.

Note
The module provides technical support for shop operators implementing and supplying information about the EU legal guarantee notice, GARAN, commercial guarantees, repairs and software updates. It does not replace individual legal advice or a review of the specific offer, the guarantee terms used or other statutory requirements.
MITS EU Legal Guarantee & GARAN Pro therefore provides a comprehensive technical foundation for managing legal guarantee, commercial guarantee, repair and software information, as well as complex attribute and variant models in modified eCommerce shop software in a structured way, supplying it automatically and permanently documenting it for each order.
